In partnership with Phi Science Institute, and as part of its social corporate responsibility strategy, Delphi Data Analytics has recently concluded its first free data science workshop. The Workshop extended for a period of 6 weeks, 3 hours per week, and covered the basics of data science using R, one of the major programming languages used in data science and statistical analysis.
The workshop was attended by 22 students and research staff from a variety of Jordanian universities, covering a wide range of medical, scientific and engineering backgrounds.
The workshop covered essential topics in the field of data science, such as the definition of data science, data munging, data exploration and visualization, machine learning, and developing data products, with an emphasis on hands-on experience. The course was concluded with an individual project that demonstrates the skills gained by each attendant, using a database of their choosing.
The feedback received was highly positive, with many of the students describing the course as “amazing”, “eye opening”, and “the course I have been waiting for my whole life”.
